What are the water infused recipes that you can try? We have prepared some recipes that we know you’ll love!
1. Begin with the classic; citrus infused water
This recipe might as well be the first infused water recipe ever created. Add slices of citrus into the water to add freshness to the water. Besides freshness, vitamin C contained is effective in increasing stamina. Citrus goes great with water because of its strong, contrasting flavor with the water which creates a unique and strong taste.
The common problem is, the longer it is soaked in the water, the more bitter the water taste. To solve this problem, just simply peel off the skin first before infusing the cuts into the water.
Actually there is not a recipe that states the exact ratio between water and fruit, it all depends on your taste. If you like the taste of sour citrus, you leave the skin on. If you want it to be moderate, peel it off. Nevertheless, here is an expert recipe for lime infused water.
To 1 liter of water, you simply prepare 1 lemon and 1 lime juice. Put 2 pieces of lemon and 2 pieces of lime into the water, then squeeze the juice from the fruit to strengthen the flavor. Let it rest and store in the refrigerator for 24 hours for optimal results, or at least 3 hours. It can last until 2 days in the refrigerator.
Well if it looks less attractive because the fruit is skinned, you can strain again your infused water and add new pieces of lemon and lime to make it looks pretty.
2. Mint infused water
Besides citrus fruits, mint is also a perfect flavor to be infused in water. Mint leaves are also rich in antioxidants that are good for digestion and preventing bad breath.
Again, there is no real recipe. But be sure to always wring the mint leaves before mixing it with water. This step aims to remove the natural oils of mint leaves. Then, save in a refrigerator overnight. Strain before serving and add some ice into the water to escalate the refreshing taste.
3. Infused water with cucumber: good for muscle and skin
Another top ingredient for making infused water is cucumber. Why is it so good? Besides its fresh taste, the skin does not make your water taste bitter. So you don’t have to peel the skin off, saving all the hassle. Just make sure you wash the cucumber thoroughly to remove any potential dirt in your drink.
Besides, do not bother, cucumber also has many health benefits. The content of silica in cucumber is good for maintaining healthy muscles and skin. Cucumber slices that have been soaked for hours in cold water can be used as a mask to reduce the acne inflammation. The water in addition to a fresh drink, is also good to wash face.
For best flavor, you need to rest the infused water for 12 hours. Cucumber infused water doesn’t need straining.
4. Water infused with a mix of strawberry, lemon, cucumber and mint
For approximately 1 liter of water, you need 4 strawberries, 1 orange juice, 1/2 cucumber and mint leaves to taste. Save and refrigerate. 10 minutes will do it, but if you want stronger taste please let it rest overnight.
Strawberry fruit is brilliant for infused water because it can maintain the shape and taste even though it has been soaked for hours. The color is also pretty.
5. Low-calorie infused water: star fruit and strawberry infused water
For approximately 1 liter of water, you need one strawberry and 3 slices of star fruit. Make sure that the star fruit is ripe, for the sweetness can come through. Preparation is really simple, just cut the fruits in regular pieces and marinate for 4 to 24 hours in refrigerator. Enjoy immediately.
Apart from high amount of vitamin C, star fruit is also one of the lowest calorie fruits. It means although it is sweet, it is not going to make you fat. So drink a lot of it!
